Skiing in BulgariaSkiing is the most popular winter sport in Bulgaria. For the past few years due to the large investments in the tourism, the winter resorts in Bulgaria are on a hole new level considering service, accommodation and facilities.

The mountains of Rila, Pirin, the Rhodopes, Vitosha and Stara Planina offer suitable ski tracks and ski equipment for skiing tourism and all kinds of winter sports. The ski season in Bulgaria is up to 190 days. The total length of the ski slopes is more than 80 km.

Ski Resorts in Bulgaria

The best ski resorts in Bulgaria are Borovets, Bansko, Pamporovo and Vitosha. Only a few years ago Bansko was a small resort that had only one lift while at present times it is one of the most modern resorts on the Balkans. Other resorts like Borovets and Pamporovo not only maintained their good positions on the tourist winter resort market but also expanded their services.

Chepelare - 222 km. south-east of Sofia and 72 km. south of Plovdiv, there are a total of 11,400 meters of runs are three main ski tracks

Kartala - near Blagoevgrad, 1 slope with 500 length

Kulinoto - 14 km from Razlog, 1 ski slope with 1300 m length

Semkovo - 25 km from Borovets, 3 big ski slopes: 1000 m – 500 m – 300 m and several shorter ski tracks
